Such caring staff, and an excellent atmosphere! They go out of their way to make sure humans and pets alike feel welcomed and cared for.
My experience with the vet herself was fine, but overall, I really hated using AAH for two reasons.
First, after adopting a dog in July I took him there for an exam so that if I ever had an issue, I could bring him to them and they would have a baseline. That visit went fine. However, three months later when I called concerned because my dog had lost a quarter of his body weight (and they too seem concerned by this), the earliest they could work me in was a week and a half out. I called another vet and got him in the next day.
My husband and I bring our pets to Allisonville to see Dr. Lesh, and the whole staff is always wonderful. Last week, we had to bring in one of our dogs for euthanasia and we were understandably heartbroken. Dr. Lesh was especially kind and compassionate, but everyone, from the receptionist to the techs, was sensitive and caring. They gave us all the time we needed to say our last goodbyes and let us cry and talk and cry some more. It was the most difficult vet visit we've ever had, but Allisonville handled it with grace and we're grateful for that.
Second, they are unwilling to use online pharmacies, but they do offer to price match (I think), which, while convenient when I lived across the road, was no longer convenient when I moved to the other side of Hamilton County. When my pharmacy contacted them to get an RX, AAH said they had no up-to-date record of my dog's heart worm test (this is for my second dog who has his yearly in the middle of September. They were contacted beginning of August). Since he is not due for another month and they took copies of all my paperwork, they either lost this paperwork or LIED to the pharmacy. Either way, it's very unprofessional. I called AAH to figure out what was going on and was going to offer to fax them the paperwork so they could put it back in their file where it should have been and was put on hold for five minutes. I decided rather than try to work with an uncooperative staff who does everything they can to make them your only option, I would take my dog in for a check-up somewhere where they are capable of keeping paperwork in order and willing to work with the patient. Incredibly unhappy with my experience with them.
My boyfriend and I own a 16 month old lab dog who does not like to get his nails trimmed. At a previous pet clinic, we were told he probably needed to be sedated to cut his nails.
We came into Allisonville Animal Hosp thinking that was our only option. Dr. Short and the nurses were so great to our boy! They conducted a full check-up and cut his nails without having to sedate him.
We have found a permanent place for all of his needs and we are so thankful to the staff for the way they take care of their customers.
I love their grooming service. Great price! Excellent service!
